<\/a>Kenzo Takada<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n Oliviero Toscani and Dominique Issermann<\/strong><\/p><\/div>\n HAVING HIS CAKE:<\/strong><\/p>\n Kenzo<\/a> Takada really knows how to party. There were hundreds of guests, red flowers, butterflies and even elephants at the Pr\u00e9 Catelan in the Bois de Boulogne outside Paris on Thursday night at the bash to celebrate the Japanese designer\u2019s 50 years in Paris.<\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to mark the occasion. In the beginning, I wanted a small dinner with a dozen people. It became bigger,\u201d Takada told WWD. \u201cParis brought me a lot. My life started in Paris.\u201d<\/p>\n The designer, who\u2019s no longer owner of the eponymous brand since 1993, had a giant\u00a0Eiffel Tower cake adorned with a red flower and festooned with \u201cArigato Paris.\u201d<\/p>\n It was the big reunion with fellow designers and friends including Chantal Thomass\u00a0and\u00a0Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, who did a collection with him in the Seventies.<\/p>\n Other designers included Barbara Bui, Iri\u00e9, Bruno Frisoni, Isabel Marant<\/a>, J\u00e9r\u00f4me Dreyfuss and Julien Fourni\u00e9, who interned for Takada. Photographers Oliviero Toscani, Dominique Issermann and muse Marpessa Hennink were also there.<\/p>\n \u201cMy mother was wearing Kenzo<\/a>. These were my favorite pieces I would steal from her,\u201d said Marant. \u201cLater on, I met with him. I love him for his generosity. He was throwing fabulous parties. This one is still quiet compared to the bashes of the days.\u201d<\/p>\n The designer is marking\u00a020 years in business next year.<\/p>\n \u201cI wasn\u2019t expecting such a big party. I will cancel my yoga class at 8 a.m. tomorrow,\u201d said Marant\u2019s husband Dreyfuss. The accessories designer is set to open a store in London next month and in the Marais neighborhood of Paris in two weeks.<\/p>\n \u201cKenzo had a magnificent house in Bastille, with a pool and a Japanese garden where he hosted magnificent parties. People would end up in the pool,\u201d Thomass mused. The lingerie designer has designed a collection of bottles for Saint-Gobain to be presented at Luxe Pack Monaco.<\/p>\n Iri\u00e9, who was Takada\u2019s assistant for 10 years, recalled the grandiose Kenzo shows. \u201cJerry Hall, Grace Jones and In\u00e8s de la Fressange walked the runway. It was a golden age,\u201d he said. \u201cI was fortunate [to work with him]. He likes nature.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s charming and joyful. He\u2019s the first to bring exotism in a different way to the Western world. You could wear Kenzo without having the feeling of wearing a piece that you bought during a travel. I was buying at Kenzo when I arrived in Paris in the Eighties. Place des Victoires was the place to be,\u201d said Frisoni, dressed in Dries Van Noten.<\/p>\n He hinted at the Roger Vivier collection he\u2019ll present during Paris Fashion Week at the Maison d\u2019Am\u00e9rique Latine on Oct. 5. \u201cIt is very Seventies\u2013inspired, flowery, relaxed.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s two years older than me, but we were born the same day so we often celebrated together,\u201d said Toscani. \u201cA legendary party was at Le Terminus restaurant, facing Gare du Nord.\u201d The Italian fashion photographer has a Rizzoli book retracing 50 years of photographs set for release next month. It will be presented at\u00a0 Paris book store La Hune in the end of October.
