{"id":8,"date":"2011-03-15T10:46:43","date_gmt":"2011-03-15T10:46:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/server\/lavori-ot\/blog.olivierotoscani\/?page_id=8"},"modified":"2019-02-28T17:16:39","modified_gmt":"2019-02-28T16:16:39","slug":"biografia","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blog.olivierotoscanistudio.com\/?page_id=8","title":{"rendered":"Biografia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Oliviero Toscani<\/strong>, figlio del primo fotoreporter del Corriere Della Sera, \u00e8 nato a Milano nel 1942<br \/>\n<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>e ha studiato fotografia e grafica all\u2019Universit\u00e0 Delle Arti di Zurigo dal 1961 al 1965.<\/p>\n<p>Conosciuto internazionalmente come la forza creativa dietro i pi\u00f9 famosi giornali e marchi del mondo, ha creato immagini corporate e campagne pubblicitarie per <i>Esprit, Chanel, Robe di Kappa, Fiorucci, Prenatal, Jesus, Inter Football Club,, Snai, Toyota, Ministero del Lavoro, Ministero dell\u2019Ambiente e della Salute, Artemide, Woolworth, Crocerossa Italiana, Regione Calabria, Fondazione Umberto Veronesi<\/i> e tanti altri.<\/p>\n<p>Ha realizzato campagne di interesse e impegno sociale dedicate alla sicurezza stradale, all\u2019anoressia, alla violenza contro le donne, al degrado del paesaggio italiano, all\u2019osteoporosi, al randagismo, all\u2019integrazione.<\/p>\n<p>Come fotografo di moda collabora per giornali come <i>Elle, Vogue, GQ, Harper\u2019s Bazaar, Esquire, Stern, Liberation<\/i> e molti altri nelle edizioni di tutto il mondo.<\/p>\n<p>Dal 1982 al 2000 ha creato l\u2019immagine e l\u2019identit\u00e0 di <i>United Colors of Benetton<\/i>, orientando la strategia di comunicazione verso messaggi di pace e di tolleranza, problemi sociali quali AIDS e pena di morte, integrazione e uguaglianza, trasformandolo in uno dei marchi pi\u00f9 conosciuti al mondo. Nel 2017 ha ripreso a dirigerne la comunicazione, dopo una pausa di 17 anni.<\/p>\n<p>Nel 1990 ha ideato e diretto <i>Colors<\/i>, il primo giornale globale al mondo, e nel 1993 ha concepito e diretto <i>Fabrica<\/i> &#8211; centro di ricerca di creativit\u00e0 nella comunicazione moderna &#8211; che \u00e8 tornato a dirigere nel 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Dal 1999 al 2000 \u00e8 stato direttore creativo del mensile <i>Talk Miramax<\/i> a New York.<br \/>\nNel 2018, per l\u2019editore RCS Corriere della Sera, ha realizzato una collana di 40 volumi: <i>Lezioni <\/i><i>di fotografia di Oliviero Toscani<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Nel 2005 Toscani ha fondato La Sterpaia, un laboratorio per la moderna ricerca sulla comunicazione, con progetti e collaborazioni con enti pubblici e impegni privati.<\/p>\n<p>Toscani \u00e8 stato uno dei professori fondatori dell\u2019Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, ha insegnato comunicazione visiva in svariate universit\u00e0 e ha scritto libri sulla comunicazione.<\/p>\n<p>Dopo pi\u00f9 di cinque decadi di innovazione editoriale, pubblicit\u00e0, film e televisione, ora si interessa di creativit\u00e0 della comunicazione applicata ai vari media, producendo, con il suo studio in Toscana, progetti editoriali, libri, programmi televisivi, mostre ed esposizioni.<br \/>\n<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dal 2006 al 2010 \u00e8 stato direttore artistico di Music Box, canale musicale interattivo, dal quale ha diretto il programma culturale Camera Oscura. Nel 2014, per Radio Rai, conduce il programma Non sono obiettivo, un format di critica culturale per mettere in discussione i banali luoghi comuni e le vecchie verit\u00e0,\u00a0un incontro tra arte e ricerca per offrire a chi ascolta una nuova visione. Per Radio Radicale dal 2014 tiene il programma: Fatto in Italia, dove affronta temi relativi a paesaggio, architettura, consumo del suolo, urbanistica. Dal 2015 \u00e8 giudice al talent show Master of Photography di Sky Arte.<\/p>\n<p>A partire dal 2007 Oliviero Toscani cura il progetto <i>Razza Umana<\/i>, un\u2019interazione tra fotografia e video riguardante le diverse morfologie e condizioni umane, per rappresentare tutte le espressioni, le caratteristiche fisiche, somatiche, sociali e culturali dell\u2019umanit\u00e0. Si sono susseguite numerose mostre worldwide, tra cui quella a Ginevra, promossa dall\u2019Alto Commissariato delle Nazioni Unite per i diritti umani.<\/p>\n<p>Il lavoro di Toscani \u00e8 stato esposto alla Biennale di Venezia, a San Paolo del Brasile, alla Triennale<br \/>\n<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>di Milano, al m.a.x.museo di Chiasso e nei musei d\u2019arte moderna e contemporanea di tutto il mondo.<\/p>\n<p>Il suo autoritratto \u00e8 esposto nel Corridoio Vasariano della Galleria degli Uffizi a Firenze.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c8 stato invitato a numerosissime conferenze e convegni, tra cui <i>What\u2019s next?<\/i> per il New Yorker a Orlando nel 1996, <i>World Economic Forum<\/i> a \u00a0Davos e <i>Table of free voices <\/i>a Berlino nel 2006, <i>Global Citizen Forum<\/i> in Montenegro nel 2017, <i>Innovation Day<\/i> a Monaco nel 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Ha vinto numerosi premi come quattro volte il <i>Leone d\u2019Oro<\/i> al Festival di Cannes, due volte il <i>Gran Premio d\u2019Affichage<\/i>, il <i>Gran Premio dell\u2019UNESCO<\/i>, il premio <i>Creative hero<\/i> della Saatchi &amp; Saatchi e numerosi premi degli Art Directors Club di tutto il mondo.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019Accademia di Belle Arti di Urbino gli ha conferito il premio <i>Il Sogno di Piero<\/i>. Ha ricevuto dall\u2019Accademia delle Belle Arti di Firenze il titolo di <i>Accademico d\u2019Onore<\/i> e dall\u2019Accademia di Perugia quello di <i>Accademico di Merito<\/i>. Nel 2017 ha ottenuto le lauree ad honorem dall\u2019Accademia di Belle Arti di Brescia e dalla Universidad Aut\u00f3noma del Estado de Hidalgo, e nel 2018 dall\u2019Universit\u00e0 Delle Arti di Zurigo. Oliviero Toscani \u00e8 socio onorario del Comitato Leonardo e della European Academy of Sciences and Arts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oliviero Toscani<\/strong>, son of the first photojournalist at <i>Corriere Della Sera<\/i>, the main Italian daily newspaper, was born in Milan in 1942 and studied photography and graphics at the University of the Arts in Zurich between 1961 and 1965.<\/p>\n<p>Internationally known as the creative force behind some of the world&#8217;s most famous newspapers and brands, he created corporate images and advertising campaigns for &#8211; among others &#8211; <i>Esprit, Chanel, Robe di Kappa, Fiorucci, Prenatal, Jesus, Inter Football Club, Snai, Toyota, Italy&#8217;s Ministry of Labor, Italy&#8217;s Ministry of &#8216;Environment and Health, Artemide, Woolworth, The Italian Red Cross, Calabria Region and the Umberto Veronesi Foundation.<\/i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He has carried out campaigns promoting awareness of &#8211; and the need to address &#8211; major social issues including road safety, anorexia, violence against women, the degradation of the Italian landscape, osteoporosis, stray dogs and integration.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>As a fashion photographer, he collaborates with newspapers and magazines such as <i>Elle, Vogue, GQ, Harper&#8217;s Bazaar, Esquire, Stern, Liberation<\/i> and many others, as well as with many of these titles&#8217; international editions.<\/p>\n<p>From 1982 to 2000 he created the image and identity of <i>United Colors of Benetton<\/i>, shifting the communication strategy towards promoting messages of peace and tolerance, focusing attention on social issues such as AIDS, the death penalty, integration and equality. His work made Benetton one of the best-known brands in the world. In 2017, after a 17-year hiatus, Benetton called him back once again as director of communications.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In 1990, he created and was editor of <i>Colors<\/i>, the first global magazine in the world, and in 1993 he conceived and directed <i>Fabrica<\/i> &#8211; a research centre for creativity in modern communication &#8211; which he returned to direct in 2017.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>From 1999 to 2000, he was creative director of the monthly <i>Talk Miramax<\/i> in New York.<br \/>\nIn 2018, he created a 40-volume series: <i>Oliviero Toscani &#8211;<\/i> <i>Photography Lessons <\/i>published by<i> RCS Corriere della Sera.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>In 2005, Toscani founded La Sterpaia, a laboratory for modern communication research, which has carried out projects with both private partners and public institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Toscani was one of the founding professors of the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture, in Switzerland. He has taught visual communication in various universities and written books on communication.<\/p>\n<p>After more than five decades of editorial innovation, advertising, film and television, now he is interested in communication creativity applied to various media, producing &#8211; with his studio in Tuscany &#8211; editorial projects, books, television programs and exhibitions.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>From 2006 to 2010, he was artistic director of Music Box, an interactive music channel, for which he directed the cultural programme Camera Oscura. In 2014, for Radio Rai, he presented I am not objective, a programme that analysed cultural rituals in order to question banal clich\u00e9s and old truths, an encounter between art and research that sought to offer the listener a new way of seeing the world \/new perspectives. He has had a programme for Radio Radicale since 2014, called Made in Italy, where he deals with topics related to landscape, architecture, land use and urban planning. Since 2015, he has been a judge on Sky Arte&#8217;s talent show Master of Photography .<\/p>\n<p>Since 2007, Oliviero Toscani has curated the <i>Human Race<\/i> project, an interaction between photography and video focusing on the different morphologies and conditions of human beings and representing all the expressions &#8211; physical, somatic, social and cultural &#8211; of humanity. Numerous exhibitions have taken place worldwide, including the one in Geneva, promoted by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p>Toscani&#8217;s work has been exhibited at the Venice Biennale, in S\u00e3o Paulo (Brazil), at the Milan Triennale, at the Chiasso m.a.x. museo (in Switzerland) and in modern and contemporary art museums all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>His self-portrait is on display in the Corridoio Vasariano of Florence&#8217;s Uffizi Gallery.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He has been invited to numerous conferences and conventions, including <i>The New Yorker<\/i>&#8216;s &#8220;What&#8217;s next?&#8221;<i> <\/i>conference, in Orlando (1996), the <i>World Economic Forum<\/i> in Davos and <i>Table of free voices <\/i>in Berlin (both in 2006), <i>Global Citizen Forum<\/i> in Montenegro (2017) and <i>Innovation Day<\/i> in Munich (2018).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He has won several awards, including the<i> Golden<\/i> <i>Lion<\/i> (four times), the <i>Affichage Grand Prix<\/i> (twice), the <i>UNESCO Grand Prix<\/i>, the Saatchi &amp; Saatchi <i>Creative Hero <\/i>award and many Art Directors Club awards from around the world.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino awarded him the <i>Il Sogno di Piero<\/i> award. He received the title of <i>Academic of Honour<\/i> from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and the title of <i>Academic of Merit<\/i> from the Academy of Perugia. In 2017, he obtained honorary degrees from the Academy of Fine Arts in Brescia (Italy) and the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma del Estado de Hidalgo (Mexico) and, in 2018, from the University of the Arts in Zurich.
